Recreational Activity

It is often common in today’s world to have sex before marriage, some even call it recreational activity. It is so common that some people will not marry without having sex first. Is this what God had in plan for us. I think not! Just having sex with one person is dangerous enough. With the spread of diseases why take the chance, do you really think that God wanted us to test the water? I recommend reading the whole chapter of Leviticus 18 to help understand about sexual sin. Well let’s see what the Bible says about this.

First look at Jeremiah 2:30 it says In vain I punished your people; they did not respond to correction. Your sword has devoured your prophets like a ravening lion. You of this generation consider the word of the Lord: Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say, We are free to roam; we will come to you no more? Does a maiden forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number. How skilled you are at pursuing love! Even the worst of women can learn from your ways.

Now look at Jeremiah 3:1 it says If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be completely defiled? But you have lived as prostitute with many lovers–would you now return to me? Declares the Lord.
Look up to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been ravished? By the roadside you sat waiting for lovers, sat like a nomad in the desert. You have defiled the land with your prostitution and wickedness. Therefore the showers have been withheld and no spring rains have fallen. Yet you have the brazen look of a prostitute; you refuse to blush with shame. Have you not just called to me; My Father,, my friend from my youth, will you always be angry? Will your wrath continue forever? This is how you talk, but you do all the evil you can.

Now look at 1Corinthians 5:9 it says I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people–not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

Look at 1Corinthians 6:15 it says Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, The two will become one flesh. But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. I recommend reading the whole chapter 7 of 1Corinthians it concerns marriage.

Now look at Ephesians 5:3 it says But among you there must not be even a hint or sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person–such a man is an idolater–has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.

In closing look 1Thessalonians 4:3 it says It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality, that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
